When I manage to get a few minutes to myself whilst the little one is in bed I like reading a good book. Last month I worked my way through the fantastic Miniaturist by Jessie Burton, I’m on something a bit heavier this month.
I’m now reading Hotel K after previously reading Snowing in Bali by Kathryn Bonella.
It’s harrowing yet deeply addictive at the same time.
The story of Bali’s most notorious jail shows a seedy side to an otherwise beautiful place. Corruption is rife.
Depicting conditions that can only be described as detestable squalor, it’s intense and positively scary.
Not surprisingly it’s a place where money talks and rich prisoners can live quite nicely, including the ability to walk in and out of the jail!
Can only be described as one of those books you can’t put down.
I think it will appeal to those with a morbid fascination or curiosity.
If you’ve read Snowing in Bali I’d highly recommend Hotel K, and vice versa!
