I really can’t rate this enough.
As most of you will know, I love music. Love it. I’ve played guitar since I was a kid, used to gig for a living, possess a degree in music. Music. Music. MUSIC!
I also think it’s fair to say I’ve got an eclectic taste. However, this also annoys me when I meet someone and ask the question, “What sort of music are you into?” and they reply with the inevitable “Everything” but what they mean is “Everything from Olly Murs to Kanye West”
Whilst I’m coming across as an elitist here, I’ve also got my own battle to fight because when I get asked the question I give the same answer but followed with Jazz and Metal are particular favourites. Instantly tarred with the metal brush so everyone has the assumption you’re listening to ‘that shouty music’. I’m the first to admint I love metal from Meshuaggah’s latest album (which doesn’t top Obzen) to Dillinger Escape Plan’s latest masterpiece. But I also adore Melody Gardot’s beautiful One and Only Thrill, Dave Brubeck and The 1975 who’s song-writing and incredible 2nd album threw caution to the wind and gave us a challenging listen, can’t fault it.
So, whilst I do get a bit of grief from my better half for teaching my daughter to head-bang to Lamb of God. “This is a mother-flipping invitation!” I also get to bounce around the living room to Bruno Mars’ latest. Keeping up?
Thankfully, this little tool gave me access to a lot of this. (In fact, I’ve been playing with it all night and didn’t even notice that we now have a Christmas tree up. [too early obviously])
I got sent this to review and I’ve been genuinely excited all day to get it plugged in!
It’s incredibly up-to-date and I can’t fault it. It’s amazingly easy to set up, you plug it into the HDMI slot on your TV (it comes with a handy extension wire similar to what you’d get with a Chromecast etc. in case you haven’t got a lot of room behind your TV).
The remote that comes with it is easy to use. A child could use it.
As soon as you’re signed in to your internet that’s it. No registration, no fuss, no hassle, no waiting. Press the mic button – say what you want to listen and it’s there!
If I have one criticism it’s that when you search through albums and it’s on the right hand side of the screen and you want to see the track listing, you can struggle because there appears a conflicting next page button. Other than that I would say that it is damn near perfection.
If you want one for yourself, or a friend/relative then it’s a perfect gift for a music lover and with Christmas just around the corner – they’re available here and come in a range of three colours (blue, red and black).
It’s also got some beautiful imagery whilst you listen to your music so I’d wholeheartedly recommend it.
Plus Stephen Fry likes it and he’s miles more charismatic and charming than I am… so don’t just take my word for it.
