The weather has been stunning recently, and on a friends recommendation I decided to visit Porto, in Bowness-in-Windermere.
Easy to find behind the main street, Porto is an Italian which has rave reviews, and rightly so. Situated on a street that honestly smelt delicious this restaurant is a gem. We were lucky enough to sit outside.
Porto offer an early evening menu and whilst we ordered from this, I also added a chicken nibble from the main menu. Let’s start with the chicken livers with blackberry spaghetti. If this was a sign of things to come, then I was excited. Whilst Elisha tucked into mushroom bruschetta, I was more than happy with my choice.
Then for the main I got monkfish scampi, which was presented very well, this came with perfectly cooked chips and a lemon garnish.
Whilst a delicious main, the tartar sauce veered more towards mayonnaise rather than tartar sauce. This said, this was my only criticism.
For dessert, we had the Crushed Strawberry Panna Cotta and the Dark chocolate tart. The panna cotta was scrumptious but the dark chocolate was to die for.
Will I return to Porto? Absolutely. Great service, fantastic food and reasonably priced.
